John D was one of my favorite cousins- all my cousins are my favorites. I will miss him. He was a life long learner - always interested in learning, reading and wanting to know. He would reach out to others and not just think about himself. He along with my uncles took care of our grandma's needs and same for his mother and mine- always staying in touch and brightening their day with a big Texas howdy and how are you - phone calls and visits all through the years into their old age. I enjoyed the good conversations and it seemed he was always moving towards the Great Conversation. His words came with much thinking behind them- pause for thought. You might think it was the Easter Texas drawl, but he always seemed to put a lot of thought into it- speaking with honesty and a true heart, with a good measure of humor and laughter mixed in. I miss him.
