John Everett Howard, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. John was born December 28, 1927 in Whitesville to Leonard and Anna (McPherson) Howard. He served in the Navy during WWII. John was of the Catholic faith and a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He enjoyed horse racing, bowling and bingo.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph Robert Howard and sisters, Nina Mae Strehl, Frances Geraldine Cecil, Josephine M. Cathey, Virginia Howard , Ann Martine Ringled, Barbara Phelps and Marguerite Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bernadette (Coomes) Howard, sons, Timothy (Jamie) Howard of Columbus, GA, and John (Marilen) Howard of Santa Clarita, CA; grandchildren, Angela Marie and Emily Nicole "Nicki" Howard; a brother, George Drury Howard; and sisters, Angela (Bernard) Clark and Rosemary Duncan both of Owensboro.
Funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, April 15 2013 at Precious Blood with Fr. Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Glenn Funeral home & Crematory with prayers at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ursuline Sisters or the American Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
