Dr. John "Jack" Howley, born on March 28, 1957, in Newburgh, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He was the cherished son of Catherine and Dr. William Howley. He is also mourned by his brothers William Howley, Fr. Vincent Howley, Thomas Howley, and Francis Howley, and his previously deceased sisters Catherine Benjamin and Marion Riley. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Jack is survived by his beloved sons, Ryan and Tyler, who fondly remember him as a loving father and an inspiring role model.
Jack truly lived life to the fullest, always ready for the next adventure. He especially loved traveling to Cabo, spending time at his cabin in Dolores, Colorado, and exploring the beauty of Nicaragua. Jack's passion for skiing, golfing, and fishing with friends brought him immense joy. His friends adored him for his vibrant spirit, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. There are countless wonderful memories of trips and adventures shared with him.
Jack spent many wonderful years in Flagstaff, building a community of lifelong friends who will miss his warm and friendly presence deeply. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met, always bringing light and positivity into their lives.
Professionally, Jack was a dedicated and compassionate cardiologist who touched countless lives through his work. After completing his undergraduate degree at Mount Saint Mary's College in Newburgh, NY, Jack attended medical school in the British West Indies at the American University of the Caribbean, where he laid the foundation for his remarkable career. He trained briefly at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City and later completed his residency and fellowship in cardiology at St. John's Hospital in Detroit, MI. His commitment to his patients and his exceptional care left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Jack's legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and a genuine passion for helping others. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.

In lieu of flowers, trees can be planted in his memory through Norvel Owens Mortuary website or donations can be made to the local Boys and Girls Club and Flagstaff Medical Center.
There will be an open house visitation on Saturday June 29th at 3:00pm at Jack's house in Flagstaff, AZ and a Holy Rosary and Catholic Mass on Monday July 1st. Rosary starting at 10:00 am, Mass at 10:30 am at San Francisco de Asis in Flagstaff, AZ.
