John Russell Hughes, 93 of Conway, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025. He was born March 25, 1932 in Freemanspur, IL to the late Harley Miller Hughes and Minnie Inez Newcom Hughes. He was also preceded by a brother, Roger Hughes and granddaughter, Gretchen Yee.John was a 1951 graduate of Herrin High School and attended SIU.
He was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean War. His hobbies were woodworking, singing and acting. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church.
John is survived by three daughters: Kathryn Bulliner Noble (Leighton), Karen Hill (Ron), and Linda Dunn (Michael): grandchildren, Tad and Heather Cardwell, Zachary and Krisee Yee, Ben and Emily Hankins, Jacob Yee, Alexandra Cardwell, Gillian Yee, Hayden Cardwell, Harrison Yee, Shelby Yee, Simon Yee, Michael Aaron Matthews, Jonathan Lee Matthews, Lauren Bailey Burk, Blane Burk, Logan Seifert, Landon Seifert, Sam Seifert, Jacob Dunn, Joshua Dunn, Joseph Dunn and Hannah Dunn Collins: step grandchildren, Nikki Hill Burk and Jennifer Hill Burk: and great grandchildren, Evangeline Yee, Moriah Yee, Joseph Hankins, John Dunn and James Dunn and Joseph Rybicki.
