IGNACE, John William – of Flint, MI, age 57, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, January 13, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5191 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning and Rev. Fr. Philip Schmitter con-celebrants. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Monday, January 13, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or the North End Soup Kitchen, in John's memory.
John was born on November 27, 1967, in Flint, MI, to the late Joseph and Ellen Jane (Madden) Ignace. He was a proud graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic School, Class of 1986, and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. John's faith was an integral part of his life, shaping the way he interacted with the world and inspiring those around him. His deep sense of loyalty was not only evident in his devotion to his family but also in his never-ending support for the Detroit Lions, a passion that connected him to his family and friends in both joyous and challenging seasons alike.
John was a loving and devoted uncle who took great pride in sharing his "Uncle John wisdom" and compassion with his nieces and nephews. He taught them the importance of perseverance, kindness, and understanding the struggles that others face, as well as sharing his love for what he called "good music"-always played loud. Whether it was the beat of a song or the simple joy of being together, those moments meant the world to him. John would want everyone to remember to "live the dream" and cherish the loyalty of true friendship.
John's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Barb Gagnon and Athena Woodson-Smith, for their extraordinary care, love, and support, Mike Ignace for his gracious sacrifice; together their presence was a true gift, providing the ability to live Independently when it was needed most. The family also wishes to thank John's devoted neighbors and lifelong friends who, like an army of angels, surrounded him with love and unwavering support through the years. Their loyalty and kindness enriched his life in immeasurable ways, for which we are forever thankful.
John's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his four siblings: Jill Frase, Joan DeFrates, Janis Dye and Juliann Martel; twelve nieces and nephews; and many loving family members and exceptionally close friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ellen Jane Ignace, and his brother, Joseph Ignace.
