John Williams Ilar

John W. Ilar, Sr. the son of Thelma James-Ilar and Larry Ilar died on January 21, 2026,

in Clovis,Califoria. Mr. Ilar was a resident of Fresno County for 10 years, he was born

on May 30th, 1944 in Ukiah, California. Mr. Ilar was a member of the Jehovah's Witness

in Fresno, California, also a member of the Manchester Point Arena Band of Pomo

Indians. John grew up in Mendocino County, before moving to Sonoma County, then

Fresno County, where was his last place he resided.

John loved to traveling, fishing, hunting and camping. His favorite teams were San

Francisco 49ers, and SF Giants. He enjoyed teaching others about our God Jehovah,

so much he dedicated his life to Jehovah in prayer and in water baptism on June 2009.

He spent most of his life in Mendocino County, before making a home in Pt. Arena

along with is wife Sharon Ilar and their 4 children. Sadly his wife Sharon passed away in

1997, John continued to raise his children with the help of Sharon's mom Lorraine

Faber.

John worked most of his life in the Timber industry before moving on to working as a

Water Treatment Operator for the Manchester/Point Arena Tribe, its after that job he

retired, He met and married his wife Janene Ilar, they were married for 23 years before

his death.

John was preceded in death by his parents Thelma James, and Larry Ilar, wife Sharon

Faber-Ilar, son Aaron Ilar, Siblings Vernon Abella, Ray Ilar Sr., Sandra Ilar and Myra

Ilar,

Survived by his wife of 23 years Janene Ilar, children, Barry Ilar, Dustin Ilar Sr., Eric

Ilar, Sr.(Tina) John III, Shannon Ilar, SharonRose Ilar Rackley(Michael), Melanie

Ilar(Benji), Staci Ilar(Rafael).

Numerous grandchildren, Nephews and nieces, great grandchild and cousins.

Siblings Sam Ilar (Kayte) Leona Ilar, Elizabeth Diaz, Margie Ilar, and Carmen Ramos

John had a special relationship with his niece Tonia Rockey, whom he shared a

birthday with. Although John didn't celebrate birthdays, he always looked forward to the

call Tonia made every year.

We want to Thank everyone for the prayers, and thoughts during this time. Especially

the Tribal Council of Hopland Band of Pomo Indians. John was a humble man, and he

lived his life simple.

At John's request no services will be made, he will be buried at the Hopland

Reservation Indiand Cemetery . On February 7th 2026 at 2:00PM, a potluck will follow

after burial in the Hopland Gym, on the Hopland Reservation.
