John Joseph Iseman on January 9, 2023 at the age of 79 went home to be with his Lord and Savior. John was born in New York City, New York to Joseph Edgar Iseman and Dorothy Elizabeth Iseman (Trebilcock) on September 17, 1943. He graduated from Dearborn High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1961. He then attended the University of Michigan and received his undergraduate degree in 1965. He continued his education in the University of Michigan Law School with the honor of earning his Juris Doctorate in 1968.
He was married to Bonnie Jo Borton in August of 1966 and had two sons, Jeffrey J. Iseman and Michael J. Iseman whom he loved with all his heart.
Following graduation from the University of Michigan Law School, John practiced corporate and tax law for 55 years. At first, he was with Dahlberg, Mallender and Gawne, and its successors, where he rose to Partner. Later, he was Corporate Counsel and CFO of Norbert Industries, and then filled the counsel role at Syncro Corp, where he was also a member of the Board of Directors.
In 1991 John married Cheryl Thomas who preceded him in death in 1997.
John joined Flexible Plan Investments, ltd. on April 1, 2002, assuming the Bloomfield Hills, MI firm's corporate counsel duties. During his 20-year tenure with the firm, and while maintaining his private law and tax practice, John led compliance and legal teams through numerous industry challenges, mentored several young finance and legal associates, and served on the firm's Executive Committee. Most importantly, it was there that he met his wife, Beth Mchale whom he married in 2003 and saw as his great love and partner in life. His leadership was instrumental in the firm's growth until his retirement in April, 2022.
John was a devoted father that cherished his two boys throughout his life and could not have been prouder of the men they became. John's great loves in his life were his family, his dogs, University of Michigan, golfing, and vacationing in Mexico. He was known and loved for his timely, witty quips in every and all situations. John left a legacy of excellence, wisdom, and a providing heart for all he loved and served.
John was a faithful husband, father, son, and friend who will be dearly missed.
He was husband to Beth Iseman whom he cherished for almost 20 years, and the loving and proud father of Jeff (Tina) Iseman and Mike (Kelly) Iseman. John was preceded in death by his sons' mother Bonnie Iseman, his second wife Cheryl Thomas, and his parents Joseph and Dorothy Iseman.
Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond and Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. Troy (between Maple and Big Beaver) Saturday January 14, 2023 from 2:00-5:00pm with service to follow officiated by John's son and daughter-in-law Mike and Pastor Kelly Iseman. John, you will most certainly be missed. We worked together for nearly 30 years. I would like to think that we were more than fellow workers and over the years we became good friends. Peace to you and your family as I know you are now able to breathe easily and are with many friends from the past.

I remember playing golf with John, his back was bothering him. We had to lift him out of the golf cart so he could hit his shot. He beat us all.with an 85
