John Rezabek Obituary

John D. "Jack" Rezabek passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. Jack was born on November 16, 1932, to George and Lorraine Rezabek in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. He grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa, working for the family business, Hawkeye Boat Livery. After the family moved to Cedar Rapids, he graduated from McKinley High School. He married Maryann Dusterhoft on May 7, 1955. They were just days away from celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary together this year. They raised five sons: John (Debbie), Michael, Richard (Cheryl), Steven (Traci), and David (Carol). Jack served in the Naval Reserves as a Machinist's Mate and was the Parts Manager for the Herman M. Brown Construction Equipment Company for 40 years in Cedar Rapids. He was an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong lover of aviation. He shot competition pistols in his earlier years, winning multiple State Championships. He was a private pilot, the builder of coveted radio control models, and a master craftsman of three homebuilt aircraft. "Blue Skies and Fair Winds." In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Robert. He leaves behind his wife and sons as well as three grandchildren, Ryan, Janelle, and Cameron. The staff of Terrace Glen Village became his extended family, and Mercy Hospice provided loving and compassionate comfort to him and his family in his final days. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation with the family starting at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Mercy Hospice or a charity of your choosing. He was a great Boss for me. He was like a father figure. He stood up for me. I will be forever grateful for that. He told great stories of fishing and pheasant hunting. I will miss you "Jack" We worked together from 1979 - 1994

My condolences to the Rezabek family. I was a classmate of Ricks. Mr. Rezabek also welcomed all of us high schoolers with a warm smile, friendly words and be wise as we departed.
