John Michael Jackson, 68, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on May 9, 2024. He was born on December 20, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents, James and Anne (Ryan) Jackson.

John had two great passions in his life: His family and Peyton Manning. John held season tickets to the Colts not only because he was a fan, but mostly because it gave him the chance to spend time with his two sons and their kids. He was a family man first and foremost and was at his absolute best with his kids and their families around.

John loved making memories and prioritized times where he could watch a movie, go on a hike, or go fishing with his wife, Sunny, their golden retriever, Buddy, and his boys John and David. John and Sunny loved to canoe in Turkey Run with their dog, Buddy. John and his sons recently went on a father-sons fishing trip in the Florida Keys and had a salty old fishing guide named Captain Johnny. That trip was the last time John and his sons were all together. On that trip, John’s son caught a 6’ tarpon and John caught multiple sharks and even held one with his bare hands in the boat. Upon completing this task his boys dubbed him John “Sharkhands” Jackson.

His sons will always remember their dad as “Sharkhands”...a dad who prioritized family, fun, and making time for memories.

John is survived by his loving wife, Rixia “Sunny” Yu; sons, David and John; his 9 grandchildren and his 4 siblings.

A Memorial Gathering for John will be from 2-4pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 4pm.
