Mr. John D. James

John D. James was born April 20, 1948, to the late John James and Iola Dulaney Williams. After the passing of John James, John was raised by his stepfather, Jerome "Bill" Williams.
He was raised in a Christian home and confessed Christ at an early age. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1966. Upon graduating high school, John attended Philander Smith College. A year later he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served and received an honorable discharge after several years of service. John later moved to Gary, Indiana and started a career at the U.S. Steel Mill. He retired from the mill following thirty-plus years of service. Upon retirement John returned home to Forrest City.
John married the girl of his dreams in 1978, Elnora Garmon, and to their union one son was born, John David James.
John departed this life on April 3, 2025. He is preceded in death by both parents and ten siblings: Emma Ruth Woodus, Ethel L. Wilson, Lavern Alexander, General Williams, Harold Jerome Williams, Billy Williams, Claudine Gordon, Carl Williams, Pauline Daniel, and Edward Williams.
He is survived by his wife-Elnora Garmon James; his son-John David James; eight siblings-Rita Willians, Joyce Williams, Carolyn Jackson, Velma Williams Thompson, Richard Williams, David (Willie Jean) Williams, Alice Jean James, and Mary Moton; a brother-in-law-John "Lil Sonny" (Pamela) Garmon; two aunts-Claudine Dulaney and Verline Davis; one uncle-Walter Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
