John James Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lambie Funeral Home - Philadelphia on Feb. 3, 2026.
We joyfully remember the life of John Christopher James, who passed away on February 1, 2026. Born on August 18, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, John was a fun loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. His quick wit and infectious laughter were as legendary as his devoted love for the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Phillies. A season ticket holder for both, John reveled in the camaraderie, the cheers, and the friendly rivalries that came with each game. More than anything, though, John loved watching his children play sports, his face lighting up with pride no matter the sport.

John was a man who knew the importance of a good party. He relished in hosting gatherings for his family and friends, his charisma shining as he ensured everyone was having a good time. His intelligence was not confined to the Municipal Courts, where he worked as a legal clerk for the City of Philadelphia. John was a loving pop to his grandchildren, sharing his love of sports and life with the next generation.

John will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 44 years Eileen James (nee Arnieri), his children Sean James, Allyson James (Michael Whalen), Christopher James (Amy Patterson), and his beloved grandchildren Keegan, Shea, Nolan, Penny, and Arlo. He was preceded by his mother, Margaret Coffin, and his sister, Kathleen Kirsch (Michael Kirsch)

As we celebrate John's life, let us remember the words from the book of Matthew 5:16 in the Bible, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." John's light certainly shone bright, and he will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends may greet John's family on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Lambie Funeral Home, 8000 Rowland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136. John's Funeral Service follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's memory to the Eagles Autism Foundation, https://donate.eaglesautismfoundation.org/donations/new?event=772a444ceb60b5044aad

In celebrating the life of John, we encourage you to share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a comforting reminder of the joyful, loving, and charismatic soul that was John C. James.
