John was born on May 28, 1948. He spent much of his working life as a communications technician in the telecommunications industry. Following his career in telecommunications, he worked in security, where he was often stationed at the gate at Notre Dame.
John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
On March 8, 1969, John met the love of his life, Patricia Ann James. They shared 57 years of marriage together.
John enjoyed fishing and shooting, and was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to Notre Dame. In 2018, John and Patricia relocated to Brevard County from South Bend Indiana.
John was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Marie James; his children, John James, Jr. (Sarah); sisters, Mary A. James and Nancy James.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026 @ 2:00PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.
