Fort Worth, Texas - John Darwin Johnson, 90, passed from this life on February 23, 2024.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite B, 3344 White Settlement Rd. Fort Worth, Texas 76107. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Rd. Fort Worth, Texas, 76107.

John was born on July 3, 1933. He met the love of his life, Charlene Bumbalough while in High School in Tennessee. They married on June 25, 1955. They were married for 58 years before Charlene's death in 2014.

John was a proud member of the US Air Force. He served for 20 years and was a Vietnam veteran. After leaving the military he began working for Bell Helicopter as security police and stayed there for 20 years. After retiring John and Charlene loved traveling in their RV. They were charter members of the West Freeway Church of Christ and loved their church family. The couple volunteered at the Benevolence Center serving the community for many years.

John loved his family dearly. He was greatly loved and will be missed immensely.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlene; his son, Richard; his parents, Sam and Bessie Johnson; and 10 brothers and one sister.

John is survived by his daughter, Debra Griggs and husband, Mike of Weatherford; his grandchildren, Lisa Griggs of North Carolina, Derek Griggs and wife, Kristi of Weatherford. He has five great-grandchildren whom he adored, Braden, Mason, and Emma of Weatherford and Alexis and Kyle of North Carolina. He is also survived by his much loved brothers, Lyle Johnson, Barry Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
