John Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Towns Funeral Home - Alamo on Feb. 11, 2026.
John Windsor Johnson, age 88, of Glenwood, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

He was born on November 4, 1937, in Glenwood, to the late Carlton Johnson and Kathy Lee McDaniel Johnson. A lifelong resident of the area, Windsor remained deeply rooted in his hometown and community throughout his life.

Windsor retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission, where he spent many years as manager of the seed orchard at Horseshoe Bend. He was also the owner of J & C Trucking Company. He was a member of Landsburg Methodist Church and a proud member of the Glenwood Masonic Lodge, where he valued fellowship, service, and tradition.

Windsor loved watching NASCAR, especially the legendary driver Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs every football season. He spent most of his time caring for family and friends with the utmost devotion.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Crawford Johnson; his sons, John Windsor Johnson, Jr., and Colby Lamar Johnson; and his sisters, Shirley Rainwater (Doug) and Carla Cook.

In addition to his parents, Windsor was preceded in death by his brother, Carlton Rodney Johnson.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Glenwood City Cemetery, with Rev. Doug Rainwater officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Landsburg Methodist Church.

Windsor lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, integrity, and love for his family and friends. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He was always super nice and funny. He would go out of his way to speak if he saw you in the grocery store and he always shielded Colby from Beverlys wrath and from her back hand when Colby stayed out to late or never came home. Everything i remember . I remember him being a good dad to Colby and his brother. Prayers for yall from Ashley, Caleb and Caden Galbreath.
