Olin Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Towns Funeral Home - Alamo on Jan. 13, 2026.
Olin Craig Adams, age 74, passed away on January 12, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1951, in McRae, Georgia, and was a lifelong resident of Wheeler County.

A dedicated servant to his community, Mr. Adams retired after 39 years of service with the Glenwood Telephone Company as CABS Coordinator and Central Office Manager. He was a member of Springhill Christian Church and a graduate of Wheeler County High School and Middle Georgia College.

Mr. Adams was the founder and chief of the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department, a position he faithfully held for more than 40 years. A dedicated volunteer fireman, he was always ready to answer the call when the tones went off, responding to emergencies calmly, steadily, and with a servant's heart. His leadership and commitment to public safety made a lasting impact on Wheeler County.

He was also a former member of the Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and remained very active in his community, always willing to help wherever needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francine Turner Adams and Olin Caswell Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Vernette Hand Adams, of Alamo; his daughter, Tasha Adams, of Atlanta; his stepdaughter, Donna Medders (Leonard), of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Kadie Robbins (Levi) and Adam King; great-grandchildren, Bentley Robbins and Payten Warnock; and siblings, Renee Adams Edge (Walker), Keith Adams, and Teresa Clifton (Billy).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Springhill Christian Church, with Rev. Ron Womack officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made to the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department or the Springhill Christian Church in lieu of flowers.
