Obituary For John Leon Jones

John "Johnny" Jones was born May 24, 1936 and entered eternal rest on February 20, 2026 following a brief illness. He was the son of the William T. Jones and Cora Banks Jones of Buckingham County, Virginia.

He received Christ as his Savior, was baptized, and joined the church at an early age. Spreading Oak Baptist Church was his home church and where

he grew up. Later he became a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Scottsville, VA, and was a faithful member until his health started to decline.

He worked for years as a groundskeeper for Hatton Farms /Ferry in Scottsville, VA, until a change of

ownership. He enjoyed and took pride in doing lawn and gardening work; feeding chickens and getting up eggs in the evening. He also loved and watching

Westerns. He will be truly missed.

Johnny is preceded in death by: his parents, William and Cora Jones; his sister, Cora Pauline Ayres; two nieces, Edith Bell Scott and Alasta Marie Jones;

and one great niece, Cheryl Wood.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Addie Jones (Herbert) of Buckingham County, VA; a brother,

William Caleb Jones of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
