It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John J. Jordan, Jr. of Mashpee, MA on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Born in Somerville, MA on September 8, 1930, to the late John and Bridget (O'Shea) Jordan. John was the first of seven children.

John was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and served as an Aerial Photographer and was honorably discharged in 1954.

John met the love of his life Mary Keating and they were wed on June 15, 1957, and resided in Watertown, MA.

Following employment with AFCO Industries, John joined the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in the city of Newton, MA. Following his retirement from the Post Office, John and Mary moved to Popponesset, MA.

John was very active in the Fifty-Plus Club of Christ the King Parish and was a founding member of The Capers for which he served as President. John also served as President of the Wilsons Grove Association. He was a representative on the Council of Aging, Mashpee, MA.

John is survived by his wife Mary of sixty-eight years. Children Geralyn Miller (Doug) of Chesapeake Virginia, Carolyn Herbert (Ron) of Smithfield Virginia, the late Michael Jordan (his surviving spouse Gail) of Waltham, MA. Six Grandchildren, Sean Miller, Lauren Miller, Deidre Herbert (Nathan Barnwell), Coleen Herbert, Patrick Jordan, Jacqueline Peterson (Joel) and one great grandchild, Olivia Miller. His siblings James Jordan and Edward (Lorraine) Jordan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Austin Jordan, Theresa Murray, Patricia Hoffer, Mary Jordan, as well as his brother-in-law Don Hoffer and sister-in-law Irene Jordan.

A visitation will take place on Friday July 25, 2025, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave, Mashpee MA. A Funeral Mass to follow at 12 PM at Christ the King Church, 5 Jobs Fishing Rd, Mashpee, MA. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA.

If you are unable to attend the Funeral Mass and would like to watch it, a livestream will be available at www.christthekingparish.com/live-streaming/.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/why-give.
