A funeral Mass for John Kadow, 89, of Lone Rock, will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Divine Mercy Parish, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. The funeral will be live streamed on the Divine Mercy Parish YouTube page. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, December 3rd, at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kossuth County Dementia Care, in memory of John.
John William Kadow was born November 26, 1935, in Kimball, NE, the son of John V. and Fern E. (Macy) Kadow. John began his schooling in Nimrod, MN till the 2nd grade when the family moved to Pine Bluffs, WY. When he was a freshman, his family moved to Mokane, MO where he graduated in 1955.
John married Linda Ann Leason on June 24, 1961, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. He served in the National Guard for nine years. John farmed north of Burt and also worked for Pioneer Seeds from 1990 until retirement in 2005. John loved farming and he loved to fly his airplane. He and Linda enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. John was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft.
John W. Kadow died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Kossuth Regional Health Care in Algona under the care of Hospice with his three children by his side. He was 89.
He is survived by three children, Michael Kadow of Lone Rock, Julie Kadow of Columbia, MO, and Susan (Don) Hanlin of Arizona City, AZ; four grandchildren, Hannah (Nick Thul) Buffington of Spirit Lake, Jamie Harper of Farmington, MN, Christopher Hanlin of Des Moines, Sara (Tiffany) Majava of Des Moines; nine great-grandchildren, Gavin O'Neal, Steven and Jack Harper, Hannah and Eric Hanlin, Riley Love, Kinlee and Maverick Buffington, and Cannon Thul. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Charlotte Garrison of Mokane, MO, Dorothy Kroll of Jefferson City, MO, Jim (Eileen) Kadow of Bancroft, and Dick (Lucy) Kadow of Camas, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Linda on September 15, 2008; two infant children; his brother Tom Kadow; two brothers-in-law, Harold Garrison and Linus Kroll; a sister-in-law, Mary Carol Fraiser and her husband Carrol "Short"; and two nephews, Dale and Doug Fraiser.
