John Wayne Kasunick, age 86, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side in Johnstown, Ohio on December 22, 2024. He was born on November 16, 1938 as the eldest of John and Georgie Kasunick in Massillon, Ohio, a place where he was a proud, longtime resident. John was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Linda, sister Judy and grandson Jonathon. John is survived by former spouse, Judy, and their five children: Scott (Roz), Stacie Reid (Glenn), Heidi Garverick (Scott), Chad (Joanna), Brendan (Joanne), nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; as well as brothers Joe (Paula), David (Mary), and many nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1956, and Wittenberg University in 1960. After graduation, he began teaching at Tuslaw High School in their inaugural year and was a beloved educator and coached multiple sports. John also enjoyed a 2nd career in sales. John had an epic sense of humor until the end of life, as evidenced by the many testimonials of the wonderful caregivers at Johnstown Pointe Long Term Care.
Family and friends are invited to the Paquelet Funeral Home located at 1100 Wales Rd. NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646 on December 30th. Visitation will be from 10-11am and followed by a ceremony at 11am to reminisce and honor the life of John W. Kasunick.
