John Francis Kehler was born July 10, 1956, at Grand Island, Nebraska, to Francis J. and Dale E. (Buerkle) Kehler. He was raised on the family farm at the O'Connor Parish in Greeley County. He received his education at Brayton and O'Connor Country Schools and Greeley High School.
John lived and worked on the family farm his entire life. Cattle and crops were his way of life. He never questioned why; he just did what needed to be done. John was frugal when it came to personal pleasures, but he would take the lead if the farm equipment needed updated.
John was employed as a handyman and groundskeeper at the Church of Visitation at O'Connor and Sacred Heart Parish in Greeley. He also helped innumerable local people and was always there when needed.
John enjoyed Honda ATV's and especially liked his Red Chevrolet pickups. John's biggest hobby was his friends and keeping watch over the neighborhood and surrounding towns.
Survivors include four brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kathy, Tim and Brenda and Francis and Teresa, all of Greeley, and Joe, of North Dakota; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Matt Roy, of Omaha, and Kathy Jarzynka, of Harvard; nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Patrick; a brother-in-law, Tony Jarzynka; and a niece, Dawn Marie Kehler.
The Kehler family extends their gratitude to the staff of Tiffany Square for the care and compassion given to John.
