John Edward Keilly, 76, of Fort Mill, passed away January 2, 2025. Born August 18, 1948 in New York, he was raised in Queens Village where he made many beloved lifelong friends. John spent three years living in Germany, several decades in Michigan where he raised his daughter, and finally enjoyed several years in the warmer climate of South Carolina. John was known by many as an enthusiastic and welcoming host, talented cook, University of Michigan football aficionado, wine collector, and world traveler. When he wasn’t doing one of these things, he could usually be found with his nose in a good book or spending time with loved ones.
John is survived by his daughter Alexis “Lexxi” Keilly, cousins George Whiten and Tom Whiten, and many more friends, family, and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm in the chapel of Palmetto Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8th.
In lieu of flowers, loved ones may make donations in John’s honor to Hey U.G.L.Y. (Unique Gifted Loveable You) - A nonprofit founded by John’s friend Betty Hoeffner that empowers youth to overcome and prevent bullying, racism, substance abuse, and suicide.
