John Keith Obituary

JOHN W KEITH III
November 13, 1947 ˜ December 17, 2025

John W. “Big John” Keith III passed away on December 17, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington.
Born on November 13, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Gail; daughter Machaelie of Buchanan MI; sons John Keith IV and Charles Keith, both of Vancouver; brothers David(Regina) Keith of Colorado Springs and Barry(Allison) Keith of Leander, TX; sister Betsy(Greg) Waldrip of N. Richland Hills, TX; two granddaughters, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with affection. John was the son of John Keith Jr. and Mary Lee Keith, both of whom preceded him in death.
“Big John” was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 29, he built more than just structures; he helped shape skylines and communities with his hands and heart. His work as an ironworker was not just a job but a calling one that demanded grit, precision, and unwavering dedication. He often shared vivid tales from the job site, reflecting the pride he took in his trade. Before his career in ironwork began, Big John played football at New Mexico Highlands University. His stories from those days were legendary among friends and family tales filled with grit, laughter, and the kind of team spirit that never faded with time.
May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him. Per John’s wishes, no service will be held.

Johnny was my best friend when we were kids & I spent part of the
summers with the family when I was growing up & about 11-12 yo. Last time I saw him was when he rode his motorcycle over from his cross country adventure to Beaumont, TX. I have lost touch with a lot of folks due to relocating in Reno, NV & now most of us are up in our years hanging on for as long as we can.
