John Kender, 95, a resident of Harwich, died peacefully on May 7th. John was the son of the late John F. Kender Sr. and Blanche (Laprade) Kender of
Worcester, MA.
Born and raised in Worcester. John grew up in the Shrewsbury Street neighborhood. John worked as a Commercial Truck Driver working for many different companies in and around the Worcester area.
John was the husband of Adelaide I. (Ryberg) Kender for 49 years. Adelaide passed away November of 2000.
John and his family moved to Harwich in 1978. John worked in the office of the Walker Oil Co. in East Harwich for many years. John also volunteered at the Harwich and Orleans COA's, assisting the elderly with shopping and their groceries.
John enjoyed all of the New England sports teams. Especially the Red Sox and Patriots. John loved to dance and adored his numerous pets over the years. He liked watching Old Westerns and listening to music from his generation. He also enjoyed keeping everyone updated on the local/national news and weather. John was happy and proud that he could live independently in his apartment in Harwich. He and his family would like to thank everyone at Pine Oaks Village Phase III (HallKeen/Mid-Cape Church Homes) in Harwich past and present. Also, thank you to all those who helped manage his health care and other daily life service needs over the years.
John is survived by his three sons. Steven A. Kender of Brewster his wife Kolleen and their daughters Margot Boehme (Geoff and Blythe-Great-Grand Daughter) of Brewster, Mallory of Somerville and Audrey Corneluis (Kyle) of Georgia. Douglas P. Kender of Worcester and his daughters Katelyn of Worcester and Lauren Sullivan of Auburn (Dan and Tora- Great-Grand Daughter), Christopher J. Kender of Brewster his wife Bethany and their children Breanna, Leanne and Payton. John is also survived by one of his three siblings, Linda Soares of Franklin and several nieces and nephews and also survived by his cousin Miriam Kender-Reis of
Harwich, MA. John's sister Shirley Dirsa (James) of Worcester passed away October 2013. John's brother Donald Kender (Jeanne) of Webster passed away November 2022. John was also blessed with many dear and loving friends, friendships and neighbors over the years.

Harwich, MA 02645.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2024 at 11 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery in East Harwich.
