Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes and Hedges Cemetery - Camdenton on Jun. 2, 2024.
John D. Kenyon, age 84, of
Osage Beach, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Lake Regional Health System in
Osage Beach, Missouri.
John was born on March 1, 1940, in
Aurora, Illinois; a son of John Douglas and Savilla (Cosner) Kenyon.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life Ruth Altepeter on February 4, 1962. They shared 62 years of marriage at the time of his passing.
In 1972, John and his wife Ruth opened the longtime Lake of the Ozarks staple, KK Jewelers in
Osage Beach, Missouri. John loved to pray for anyone who came into the store and led many people to the Lord.
John was a gentle and kind man. In his early thirties, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. His love and dedication to the Lord carried him and his family through the rest of their lives.
Later in his life, he wrote and published his book My Supernatural Journey with God that documents his story of life, his journey with God, and his passion for faith and family.
John loved his family, and spending time with them was always one of his greatest joys in life. He was also an avid fisherman, a skill that would supply many family gatherings over the years with an abundance of fried crappie, blue gill, and every other kind of fish the cove around his dock had to offer. Along with his family, John had a deep love and appreciation for animals, especially dogs. John surely had many wagging tails waiting for him at the gates of Heaven.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many who will miss him dearly, and look forward to being reunited one day in the loving presence of the Lord.
John is survived by wife Ruth Kenyon, who he always lovingly referred to as "Ruthy"; his children John Eric Kenyon of
Osage Beach, Missouri and Carla Laney of
Osage Beach, Missouri; his six grandchildren Michael Chase Laney, Nicholas Creed Laney, John Kyle Kenyon, Lindsey Kenyon, Christopher Kenyon, and Tyler Kenyon; his three great-grandchildren Luna, Jude, and Max; his sister Evelyn Kay Mitchell of
Osage Beach, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Savilla Kenyon and his brother Douglas Kenyon.
There are no formal services planned at this time.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5,

A Touch of Mastery
By John Kenyon
It's wonderful when you think of it
What God can really do
The way he paints the autumn leaves
And turns the sky so blue
The way He calls the birds to go
When winter is drawing nigh
And how He calls them back again
When warm air blows on high
And in the meadow early
He lets pure water flow
From the many tiny snowflakes
That fell not long ago
With this He breathed a word
And blossoms popped with glee
By this we know it's springtime
The master's hand we see
In every little flower
And every mighty tree
We see His marvelous workings
