Hodapp Funeral Home Liberty TownshipJohn F. Kerlin, a dedicated business owner and cherished family man, passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on September 30, 1940, John spent over 30 years at the helm of the Kerlin Company, where his tireless work ethic and unwavering integrity made a lasting impact on his community.
John was not only a successful businessman but also a beloved figure known for his infectious smile and positive outlook on life. No matter the challenges he faced, he approached each day with a spring in his step and a determination that inspired those around him. His loving nature extended beyond his work; family was of utmost importance to John, and in his later years, he sought to ensure that everyone he encountered felt the embrace of Jesus' love.
An avid participant in various activities, John enjoyed go karting with the Ohio Valley Karting Association (OVKA), playing pickleball, as well as hunting and fishing. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories with his friends and family.
John’s commitment to his profession was evident in his leadership roles, notably as a board member and President of the Cincinnati Master Plumbers Association for two years, where he helped shape industry standards with his expertise and vision.
He is survived by his son, John M. Kerlin, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Kerlin, son Justin Kerlin, daughter-in-law Jenny Kerlin, and his long-term loving companion, Sharon Vogel. John was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Kerlin, and his mother, Kathleen Kerlin.
As we reflect on the life of John F. Kerlin, we celebrate a man whose legacy of hard work, love, and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
