Mary was born in Wakefield. West Yorkshire to Denis & Joan Schofield on March 23, 1948. She went to the local school. She moved away from home to attend university. Attending Sheffield University where she majored in Education and Languages. Mary married Gordon on August 30, 1975, in her hometown of Rothwell. England. Mary taught languages for many years. Until in1988 she began working for the NSA as an Adjunct Faculty Member of the National Cryptologic School. Mary was one of the first Naturalized U.S citizens to be hired by the NSA. Mary rose through the ranks to become a Senior Policy Officer. She retired in 2010 after 22 years with the NSA. She enjoyed travelling the world with her soul mate Gordon.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gordon, her brother Marshall, her mother Joan and her father Denis.
Mary is survived by her 3 nieces, Claire, Alison and Sarah. Her nephew Jonathan. Her 4 Great-Nephews Thomas, Ryan, Rhys, Joseph and James. And her Great-Niece Katherine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Thursday November 20, 2025, at Hiers-Baxley 3975, Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, with Mal Patterson minister of Community United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at a service on Friday November 21, 2025, at 13:30 at Florida National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley.
