John R. Kimmell

John R. Kimmell, 74, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Emma Kimmell. He is survived by his son, Cameron Kimmell; wife, Kelly (Allen) Kimmell; and grandson, Tyler Kimmell. He is also survived by his brother, James Kimmell, and wife, Gail (Carver) Kimmell; and nephews, James and Todd Kimmell. John grew up in Irwin and attended Norwin High School before going to Pitt at Greensburg. In 1978 he married Susan Babyak. The family moved to Stahlstown in 1984 to realize their dream of horse ownership. He was active in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Donegal, and worked as a paralegal at Lieber and Hammer LLC until his death. John had a kind heart, and he loved people. He was always willing to help. John was also a jack of all trades with electrical, plumbing, car repairs, and even horseshoeing. He had a smile that would light up a room and a booming laugh that you couldn't ignore. He will be sorely missed. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, with interment to follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
