John David King IV, 43, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born on March 28, 1982, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Carla Brown and John David King III.
John was a graduate of Hamilton Christian High School and worked for many years as a cell tower technician, most recently with MCommunications. He was known for his great sense of humor and had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. Some of his most treasured moments were spent fishing with his son. He was also an incredible cook, well known for smoking meats in the Cajun microwave. Above all, John loved being surrounded by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Emery King (mother Ginger Johnston), stepson, Kayden Johnston; his mother, Carla Brown, and her husband, Neal; stepsister, Katie Williams, and her husband, Paul; half-brothers, Eric Brown and wife Torie, Alex King, and Morgan King; along with loving aunts, uncles, and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, John David King III; maternal grandparents, Emery and Britt Stutes; and half-brother, Timothy Brown.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and resume Saturday at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. John will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an account held at Morgan Stanley for the benefit of Emery King. Checks made payable to Emery King c/o Morgan Stanley 1450 William Street 3rd FL Lake Charles, LA70601.
