John F. Krumwiede of Rock Hill, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. Born on September 4, 1937, in Kankakee, Illinois, son of the late Franklin and Helen (Knapp) Krumwiede.
Loving father of Laura K. (James) Hartwell of MD, Lisa M. (Michael) Brown of MD, and Linda B. (Raymond) Piedt of Fort Mill. Grandfather of Elizabeth, Andrew, Jack, Thomas, and Joseph Brown of MD, and Lindsey, Jared, and Zachary Piedt of Fort Mill.
Mr. Krumwiede graduated from the University of Illinois and spent his career with the Glass Division of PPG Industries. After his retirement, he pursued Civil War research and writing, authoring two books and numerous articles. Prior to his death, he supported numerous social causes and enjoyed reading, watching movies, walking at the mall, and going out for dessert.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Doris M. Krumwiede.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Pilgrims Inn, P.O. Box 11328, Rock Hill, SC 29731 Pilgrims Inn .
