John Kula, 77, of Gretna, NE, died on Tuesday, Mar 21, 2023, after a hard battle with cancer. John was the youngest son of Louis and Molly (Kosalka) Kula and was born on October 3, 1945, in Omaha, NE. He graduated from Ryan High School in 1963. He served in the Army National Guard until 1971. On April 24, 1971, he married Ginger Kay Robinson at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Omaha. Through this union, they had 3 children: John, Julie and Tina.
John loved to be outside and play with his grandchildren. He would play ball with them and take them on many Ranger rides. He also loved rebuilding his hot rod and tinkering in his shop. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. In 2010, John retired from a 50-year career as an optician.
He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to make everyone feel comfortable. He had a great work ethic and much patience. He was proud of his wife and children, especially of his 10 grandchildren. He was quiet but always had something funny to add.
John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Kay Kula, of Gretna, NE; his 3 children: John (Melissa) Kula of Gretna, NE, Julie (Jay) Masching of Carroll, IA, and Tina (Sam) Schuman of Geddes, SD; his grandchildren: Timothy Kula, Andrew Kula, Sarah Kula, Nicholas Kula, Jacob Kula, Joseph Masching, Joanna Masching, Leah Schuman, Matthew Schuman, and Hannah Schuman.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Molly Kula; in-laws: Raymond and Vera Robinson; his siblings: Louis Kula Jr. and Carol Kula-Slatinsky, Rich Robinson, Shirley (Robinson) Palmer, and Pearl (Robinson) Workman.
