John E. Lamielle age 61 of Canton Township, passed away unexpectedly from an undetected heart issue on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Aultman Hospital. He was the son of William B. Lamielle and Linda Tonielli.
John was a 1982 graduate of McKinley High School who devoted his career to Giant Eagle, mastering every role and eventually serving as grocery manager. Known for his warm smile and helping hand, John never met a stranger. He believed that actions spoke louder than words, especially in living out the teachings and commandments of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A dedicated member of First Baptist Church, He was a moderator of the church board for many years, He played a key role in the search that brought Pastor Anderson to the congregation. He found joy in teaching Sunday School, serving with Fellowship Outreach and Stephen Ministry, leading the Baptist Association, and pitching in wherever he was needed. A graduate of ABC Leadership Academy, John would preach at various local churches when called.
Despite his busy schedule, John always made time for the things he loved—bowling, running a Fantasy Football league, and caring for greyhounds. Since 1991 he has been a passionate supporter of Greyhound Rescue, fostering and adopting many dogs through the years.
John looked forward to retirement with plans to continue his ministry, prayerfully considering a local pastorate. Together with his wife, Diane, he exemplified servant leadership and faithful discipleship, filling their days with service to others.
John is preceded in death by his father, William B. Lamielle, stepfather, Vincent T. Tonielli and a step grandson, Andrew Macro.
Those left to cherish John’s memory include his wife Diane (Dickerhoof-Stalder) Lamielle; mother, Linda Tonielli; daughters, Jeanne (Eric) Dobransky and Lori Stalder; two granddaughters, Kailey Macro and Brenna Dobransky; two grandsons, Sam Macro and Brett Dobransky; sisters, Jeannie Lamielle, Rhonda Frank, Michelle Wright and Maggie Workman; two brothers, Mike (Staci) Lamielle and Vincent (Lindsay) Tonielli; numerous nieces and nephews.
John’s visitation will be held for friends and family on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5:00 -8:00p.m. at First Baptist Church located at 20 6th St SE, Massillon, OH 44646. His funeral service will follow the next day at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior 9:00-10:00a.m., at the Church, with Rev. Dr. David M. Anderson, Jr. officiating. John will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal-related charity of your choice or to the First Baptist Church of Massillon.
