John DeLess Lampson, age 62, of Chouteau, passed away surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 21, 1962, and spent his life building strong connections and lending a helping hand wherever he could. John worked for many years as a derrick hand in the oil field, known for his hard work and dedication. On May 4, 1984, he married the love of his life, Denise (Rickner), in Texas and shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was filled with adventure, laughter, and love. A true outdoorsman, John loved camping, fishing, and spending time in nature. He had a knack for tinkering and could often be found working on projects around the house. His favorite pastime, though, was visiting with people—John never met a stranger. His big heart and generous spirit made him someone others naturally turned to. He will be remembered for the way he made people feel seen and cared for, always willing to lend a hand or share a story.
John is survived by his wife, Denise Lampson of the home; sons, John Lampson of Chouteau, OK, and Chris Lampson and wife Virginia of Pryor, OK; daughter, Tiffany Lampson of Muskogee, OK; brother, Dion Lampson and wife Sandy of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Debbie Sanford of Choctaw, OK, Donna Payne of Tulsa, OK, and Derena Lampson of Tulsa, OK; and 13 cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his close friend, Clinton Reed. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sylvia (Sarver) Lampson, and his son, Erine Lampson.
