John Larson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koskey Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 17, 2022.
John Frederick Larson, 78, of Richmond Township, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, October 15, 2022 at UP Health System Marquette with his loving family by his side following a lengthy illness.
John was born March 28, 1944 in Lansing to Frederick and Mary (Lee) Larson, and attended Lansing Sexton High School. John served honorably in the United States Air Force, and was stationed at KI Sawyer AFB when he met is bride of 58 years, Mavis. He was a longtime corrections officer at Marquette Branch Prison, where he made many lifelong friends.
John loved spending time with his beloved family at his home on, 'Makki Pelto.' He always saw the good in everyone and took great pride in spoiling and surprising his family in many ways. John was a lifelong Michigan State Spartans fan, and loved watching the Green Bay Packers, even in their not so good years. He was a loving and generous husband, father, uncle, son-in-law and grandpa, and is already dearly missed.
Surviving are his loving wife, Mavis (Anderson) Larson; two sons, John (Terry) Larson of Rapid River and Jeff Larson of Gwinn; grandchildren: Ryan Larson, Brittinee Larson, Robert (Michelle) Noel, Jennifer (Joshua) DeVos, Brad (Elissa) Parsons, Cory (Bethany) Larson, and Chad (Lindsey) Larson; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sally Sherman of Grand Blanc, MI and Vicki (Roger) Dirling of Benson, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring John's wishes, no public services will be held.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. I met John while working @ MSU, E. Lansing about 1963. Later we both worked @ Auto-Owners Ins. Co.. I was one of John's many friends. He will surely be missed by all who new him.
