John F. Lavertue, recently of Riverside Nursing Home, Dover, NH where he received excellent care, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 13, 2024.
Born June 28, 1938, to Frances Lavertue (Wilson) and John Lavertue in Union, NH. He resided most of his life in Rochester, NH. Started working at a young age for Ken Laskey (Laskey's Garage) learning mechanics. In his own words, "Ken Laskey was good to me, taught me a lot and took me under his wing." From there John worked in various Mills, including many years at Prime Tanning in Berwick Maine. Then onto decades of owning and operating, John's Roofing & Siding until 2020 well into his eighties.
He married his first wife, Honey (Phyllis Morrill) of Sanbornville, NH in 1957. Together they had four children, Stephan J. Lavertue (Deceased), Sharon L. (Lavertue) Hibbard, of Rochester, NH Karla E. (Lavertue) Chagnon of Sanbornville, NH and Colleen L. Bruce of Sanbornville, NH. He is predeceased by his first wife, Honey Lavertue and son, Stephen Lavertue, and both of his parents. As well as his brother, Norman Lavertue of Union and Sister Emily Wentworth of Farmington, NH.
He is survived by his three daughters, Sharon, Karla, and Colleen. His previous loving wife of over 20 years, Kim Pay Lavertue and two stepdaughters, Victoria Ney and Nairobi Tallard. His brother, Willaim (Billy) Lavertue of Newmarket, NH. Several grandchildren, Kimberly Perkins of Lebanon, Maine, Jessie Bruce of Sanbornville, Gary Hibbard of Rochester, NH, Darcie Hibbard of Maine, Adrian Hibbard of Farmington, NH and Karlina Chagnon of Rochester, NH. Several nieces and nephews, and six great-grandchildren.
We would like John to be remembered as a hard-working, fun-loving guy that could be fisty with a lot of grit and fortitude. His words were often few, but he knew what was going on. Through the years he was known as "Bozo and John the Roofer." Please make donations to the Riverside Residents Fund in his memory. "There for the grace of God we all go." A service will be held in the Spring on Saturday April 27th 2024 at the Milton Mills, NH cemetery @ 1:00 pm with a reception to follow at the home of Colleen Bruce and Michael Hickey 584 Willey Road Sanbornville, NH.
