Born: October 24, 1961 in Dixon, IL
Died: March 14, 2026 in Dixon, IL
John "Jack" Leffelman, age 64 of Amboy, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at OSF St. Katharine Hospital in Dixon. He was born on October 24, 1961, in Dixon, IL, the son of Eugene "Gene" and JoAnn (Friel) Leffelman. Jack was an independent owner and operator of a trucking company for many years, and most recently was a truck driver for Martin and Company, with plans to retire this fall. Jack was a lifetime member of the Green River Saddle Club and a member of the Teamsters Local 722. He grew up riding horses and loved being on the trails. Some of his favorite memories were spent camping and riding with his friends and daughters. He was an incredibly proud father who loved his girls deeply. Most recently, he witnessed his oldest daughter receive her doctorate and walked his youngest daughter down the aisle to marry the love of her life. However, his greatest joy was being "Papa Jack." His grandchildren adored him just as much as he adored them, and he always dropped whatever it was that he was doing to be there for his grandbabies. In recent years, Jack traded in his saddle for his side-by-side "Precious", where he enjoyed time riding with friends. He was also a familiar and beloved patron of The Last Alarm, where he spent many good moments in the company of people who meant a lot to him. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Doug Leffelman. He is survived by his children Emily (Lucas) Zimmerman of Amboy, Kelsey (Juan) Cintron of Dixon, five grandchildren Kaylee Zimmerman, Clayton Zimmerman, Elana Cintron, Kennedi Cintron, Bree Ann Cintron, loving companion Barb Harrison, partner in crime Joe Dewey, siblings Denise (Ken) Sexton of Sterling, Tom (Teresa) Leffelman of Mendota, Regina (Don) Poquette of Bartlesville OK, sister in law Kim Leffelman of Island Lake IL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. A memorial has been established. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
