John Thomas Leggs Jr. was born on May 20, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia to the union of Rev. Walter Harris and Mary Elizabeth Jackson. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

John was educated in Nashville Public Schools in Davidson County, attending Hayes High School. Upon completion of his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for 3 years and received an honorable discharge in January 1974.

John was a member of Roger Heights Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. C. H. Fitzgerald. He enjoyed skating, playing basketball, cracking jokes, along with other activities.

He leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Teresa Leggs, son, John Leggs III, children’s mother, Dorothy Leggs, brothers, Walter L. (Paula) Harris, Rev. Raymond L. (Joanne) Harris, grandchildren, Breawn Watts, MarVinae Page, MarVinasid Page, Isaiah Leggs, John Leggs IV, Caiter Leggs, cousins, Richard L. (Annette) Jackson, Queenester Berry, Liz Leggs, close friends, John Gooch, Rhonda Gooch Johnson, Pete and Linda Cloyd, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
