SANFORD-- John P. Lemay, 90, of Sanford, died Monday April 3 at his home.
He was born in Sanford November 24, 1932 the son of Wilfred and Florence (Guillemette) Lemay. He attended Notre Dame School in Springvale and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He served until 1955 in the 2nd Armored Cavalry in Germany.
John was a Master Electrician working at several manufacturing facilities in Maine and Massachusetts, including Raytheon, Western Electric, GTE, Dolans Radio, CYRO and Coyne Electric. He enjoyed camping and hiking in the White Mountains with his family.
John was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Lionel, Joseph and Richard Lemay.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Foster) Lemay; his children, Anthony Lemay and his wife Barbara of Sanford, Timothy Lemay and his fiance Mylinda Badger, Philip Lemay and his wife Debbie of Shapleigh, Barbara Sherman of Springvale and Kelly Merrow and her husband Michael of Kinderhook, NY; two sisters, Margella Provencher of Springvale and Celine Lariviere and her husband Ralph of Biddeford; his brothers, Bernard, Louis and David Lemay; his grandchildren, Joshua Sherman, Jason and Christopher Lemay, Heather Frame, Melissa Hallet, Victoria Goodreau, Kimberly Duncan and Catherine Anderson as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 14, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at the Elks Lodge,13 Elm St. in Sanford.
