TROY - John R. Leonard, 86, of Troy, N.Y., passed away, on June 21, 2025, at Albany Medical Center, from heart complications. He had a peaceful death, surrounded by his wife and daughter.
John was born in Albany, N.Y., on January 22, 1939, to his beloved mother, Jeanette McDermott (Boudreau). After serving his country in the Army National Guard, he worked for 46 years at Teledyne Gurley, in Troy, N.Y., where he eventually retired.
He was an intelligent, quick-witted man with a great sense of humor. He loved to go camping, sailing, and fishing. He was a fan of country music and the N.Y. Giants. As he got older, he enjoyed quiet nights at home, and almost never missed an episode of Jeopardy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Leonard (Ciraulo); his daughter, Donna Leonard; sister, Donna Landrigan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his brother, Donald Leonard.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy, N.Y. 12180, and to his Funeral service, on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Ave., Troy, N.Y. 12180.
