John Louis Lindberg, age 73, passed away November 13, 2025 at his home in West Marshland Township of Grantsburg, WI.

John was born July 28, 1952 to Andrew Arnold and Elsa Lou Ann (Lund) Lindberg in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. John attended Grantsburg schools and graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1970.

John was a bashful guy, but excelled in school. Known for his mathematical abilities in high school Mr. Dick Peper would give him long complicated oral math problems and he rarely got one wrong. John had fond memories of playing tuba in the band and going on the Faith Lutheran Church yearly trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

John attended UW-River Falls for a short time, but realized he wouldn’t be able to make it financially, and he acknowledged that he really missed his hometown and family. John would later attend a machine shop class and start his career at Parker-Hannifan in Grantsburg. John medically retired from Parker in 2009 after 35+ years with the company.

In 1977 John met Sandra Davidsavor (Dyer). Sandy was the love of John’s life and the two married May 27, 1978. Sandy had two children, Alyce and Mitchell, which would become his bonus children.

In April of 1979 John and Sandy’s daughter Jessica was born, and in June of 1981 their daughter Rose was born.

John became ill with kidney failure in the early 1980s and was on dialysis for his kidneys until he received his first transplant. John’s transplant kidney was failing so in October of 2000 he received another kidney transplant by his daughter Jessica. Despite the chronic illnesses and being immunocompromised, John and Sandy traveled. Their favorite place to visit was the North Shore of Lake Superior with one of the trips being 11 days long on the big lake. A recent trip in August to visit his daughter Rose would be his last trip – John got to see a favorite band at Red Rocks which was “incredible” to him. John also enjoyed traveling to Milwaukee area to visit his cousin, Sid.

On November 19, 2017, Sandy passed away from a short battle with cancer. This was devastating to John and he never really recovered from that loss.

John had a great faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Grantsburg serving on church council and singing in the choir. He loved making new friends in church and reconnecting with old ones.

John was a proud grandpa to Alyce’s son Nicholas, Mitch’s daughter Michelle, Jessica’s son Robert, and Rose’s sons Silas and Gage.

John loved music and loved playing his guitar – some friends he would play with were Ed, Mike, Louie, and Nick; and jamming with his cousin Bill. He also was a golfer playing on many leagues in Grantsburg and whenever he could. Baseball was his passion though – he loved watching the sport and traveled to quite a few baseball parks over his life. John also enjoyed working with the trees – something he learned from his father-in-law, Bob.

John is survived by daughters Jessica Mott (John) and Rose Olson (Karl); bonus children Alyce Davidsavor and Mitchell Davidsavor (Okyo); grandchildren Nick Davidsavor (Mary), Michelle Davidsavor (Dalton), Robert Mott, and Silas and Gage Olson; and great-grandchildren Isaac, Anders, William, and Emelia. He is also survived by sister Mary Jane Jensen (Arlen) and brother Paul Lindberg (Janet); and sisters-in-law Alice Swenson (Steve) and Bonnie Perry; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents Arnie and Lou Ann, loving wife Sandy, brothers Duane Lindberg and Marion Lindberg, sister Andrea Holm, father and mother-in-law Bob and Rose Dyer; brothers-in-law Terry Dyer, Bob Dyer, and Gene Perry; and sisters-in-law Roberta Dyer and Jane Lindberg.

Services for John will be Friday, November 21, 2025, at New Hope Lutheran in Grantsburg. 10:00-11:00am visitation, 11:00am funeral service with luncheon to follow at the church. Burial will be at Ekdall Cemetery at 2:00pm.
