John Percy "John P" Lockamy Jr.

On July 23, 2024, John Percy Lockamy Jr. (John P.), age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Dunn, NC. He was surrounded by his family when he took his final breath and celebrated the last part of his birthday in Heaven.
John P. was born in Dunn, NC on July 23,1938 to John Percy Lockamy Sr. and Thelma Pope Lockamy, both deceased.
He started working as an apprentice mechanic at Dennis Cadillac in Dunn where his passion grew into a career. He later co-owned and operated Barefoot's Radiator Shop, a car parts store (LTS) and Sentry Vault Service Inc. After many years of employment, he retired but continued working part-time as a funeral assistant at Cromartie Miller-Lee Funeral Home.
John P. was always on the go and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He was an avid gardener, and he loved sharing his harvest with family and friends, NASCAR fan and antique car collector. He attended numerous NASCAR races and car shows. He was a loving husband to his wife, Marguerite for 56 years.
John P. was a special son, husband, brother, uncle, mentor and friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Lockamy. He is also survived by his sisters Faye Godwin of Garner; Lynn Lee and husband Jake of Dunn. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews: Cammie Melvin, husband Bailey and children: Wesley Melvin and wife Caitlin, Will, Stephen and Kelli; Kim Pollard and husband Alex and children: Elizabeth and Ryan; Johnathan Lee and wife Shannon and 3 children: Wallace, Silas and Gideon; Whitney Lee Autry and husband Chase and their son, Nolan; Katie Lee; Jenny Lockamy Dugger and son Riley; Michelle Lockamy and husband Hery and daughters: Madalyn and Emma Kate; Susan Mireles and husband Eddie and children: Lucas Mireles and wife Allie and their son Elijah; Jacob Mireles and wife Ailen; Ellie Mireles. He is proceeded in death by brother Larry Lockamy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024 at West & Dunn Funeral Home of Erwin from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Lee's Chapel Church in Dunn at 11:00 AM.
