John Lorence

John "Jack" Lorence passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 75. John was born on December 31, 1949, to the late John and Ida Lorence of Holland, Michigan.
John graduated from Holland High School in 1968. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He attended Davenport University. John was a lifelong member of Immanuel Church of Holland where his family still attends.
John had an entrepreneurial spirit from the beginning. In 1969 he decided to start a cleaning company and later transitioned into the painting business. In 1972 he started Lorence Industrial Services and painted factories, churches and equipment. In 1980 he built a building on New Holland Street and formed Fleet Refinishing Works, where John managed his crew painting semi-trucks and trailers. In the mid 80's he bought a printer and plotter and began large format printing, which is now Fleet Graphics of Michigan. In 2004 he had the desire to buy and sell vehicles and founded Concept Motors. His wife Sandy was his biggest cheerleader and business partner. John was proud when his three children decided to join him and Sandy in their business endeavors. They plan to carry this lasting legacy into the future.
John will be remembered by his love for others and always being willing to give anyone another chance. John was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and wasn't afraid to share the gospel, pray with anyone or just lend a listening ear. He loved spending time at the beach, skiing with family, cruising in his Shelby Mustang convertible and being with his grandchildren.
John is survived by Sandy, his wife of 48 years, his children Sarah and Cory Dangler (Chloe and Summer), John and Kerri Lorence (Kayla, Jax, Kady and Kryna), and Jeremy and Joy Lorence (Jemma). He is also survived by his siblings, Alyce Doss, James and Mary Lorence and Beth and Eric Forte, Jerry and Faye Hop, Bill and Muriel Hop, Wayne and Linda Hop and Brenda and Bill Marcus, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday (January 10), at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Avenue, with Rev. Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 pm Thursday (January 9), at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
