John A. Magee, 95, of Central Square, passed away January 15, 2026.
John was born in Syracuse, New York, on May 19, 1930, to Charles and Georgina Magee.
John retired from Magee Canvas Company several years ago at the age of 91, where he made marine upholstery and canvas.
John was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who looked forward to spending time at his hunting camp with his friends and family. He enjoyed woodworking and the company of his cat, Gidget.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marion. parents Charles and Georgina Magee, and brother, Geordie.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Karen) Magee. daughter, Cheryl Poel; two stepdaughters, Amy Verner and Sheri Sciortino; three grandchildren. sister, Sandy (Carl) Mathewson, brother, Charles (Carmen) Magee, and close friend Mike Crain.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9-11 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St North Syracuse, NY 13212. With a burial following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 800 Grant Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13203.
