John Arthur Maier
Born: February 3, 1945 in Sandwich, IL
Died: November 16, 2025 in Bean Station, TN
John A Maier, Jr. (Jack) of Bean Station, Tennessee, formerly of Plano, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born February 3, 1945, to John Sr. and Emily Maier, in Sandwich, Illinois. He grew up in Plano, Illinois, graduating with the Plano High School Class of 1963. Afterwards, Jack enlisted in the Marines where he served in Vietnam 1963 to 1967. He worked as a lineman for Illinois Bell Telephone Company, from which he retired. Jack never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ruth Maier, his sister, Judy Duvick, nieces Chris Rhodes and Julie Jacobsgaard, nephew David Duvick, stepdaughters Marianne McDowell and Virginia Strukel, and longtime friends Linda Duncan and Duane Puncochar, as well as his neighbors.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Regency Retirement Village and Amedisys Hospice of Morristown, Tennessee, for their compassionate care shown to Jack in his final days.

Jack & I were boyhood best friends from kindergarten thru both our military services, and actually until he moved away from Plano. Somewhere I have a picture of us together while home on Christmas leave. Last saw him at a class reunion a few years ago. Sadly, lost touch after I also moved away.
