John D Martin

John D. Martin, 66, Norwalk, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. John was born July 19, 1958 in Macomb, IL to Earl and Mary Garrettson Martin. John was raised in Norwood and Bartonville, IL before moving to Bushnell, IL to live out most of his life working and raising his family. John married the love of his life, Carla Coates, in Bushnell, IL on April 7, 1979. Together they raised a family consisting of three children - Christie LaCourse (Mike Debrouse), Norwalk, IA; Steve (Nicole) Martin, Bushnell, IL; Amanda Martin (Jason Kieffer), Indianola, IA. His children were the light of his life. Also surviving are his grandchildren who were very important to him; Devon (Amber) Chase, Paige Aspromonte (Matt Weyhrauch), Jonathon Martin, Dalton Martin, Draven (Tessa) Martin, Kobe Martin, Jordan Olds and Kayden Olds. He is also survived by brothers - Randy, Steve, Jeff and Joe Martin, his brother-in-law Mick Ebbert, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Tonya Ebbert and a special nephew Eric Ebbert. John was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was strong in his Christian faith and values. He enjoyed camping, fishing, singing karaoke, but most importantly spending precious time with his family. Some of his most treasured memories was playing music for his grandkids and making them guess who it was. He was an avid sports fan following the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini men's basketball and most recently had a new passion for Iowa's girls' basketball and the Indiana Fever.
