Mr. John E. "Jack" Martin Sr, 89, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the St. Mary Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia GA.

Born on May 17, 1936 in Enola PA, he was the son of the late Jerome Martin and Blanche Irvin Martin. He was retired from Bell Telephone Company as a manager and a member of the First Methodist Church of Hartwell. He was a US Army Reserve Veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Janice McFarlin Martin; two sons; John E. Martin Jr., Charlie Rich; one step-son: James McFarlin; four daughters: Cindy Sherwood, Joni Schmidt, Lori Wilson, Caroline Lawrence; one brother: Butch Martin; one sister: Shirley Kirkessner; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Jack Martin will be Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Hartwell with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating with a reception to follow.

The family will be at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Hartwell, 200 Howell Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
