John Tom Martin, Jr., age 75, Seneca, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at his home after a sudden illness.
John was born June 11, 1950 in Joplin, son of the late John T. Martin, Sr. and Velma Lucille (Bybee) Martin. He grew up in Joplin and attended Joplin Schools graduating from Joplin High School. He then served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He returned to Joplin and earned his degree in drafting from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin. He worked for Eagle Picher for some time before beginning his career in sales. He worked several different locations in sales and enjoyed collecting 1955 – 1957 Chevy car parts and selling them. He was also an avid hot wheels collector and had many valuable cars collected. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion for several years, Diana Barchak.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Langley (Will) of Miami, OK, son, Cory Bass of Texas; nieces, Kim Endicott, Christa Hoag both of Joplin; grandson, Rylan Stuart of Miami; great-nephew, Brenden Hoag of Joplin, and great-niece, Halie Endicott of Jackson, WY; stepdaughters, Andrea Roach of Springfield, MO and Heather Harms of Carl Junction.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with memorial visitation Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Southwest Missouri Bank, 4000 E. 7th St, Joplin, MO.
