John Alan Masterson, age 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born on April 5, 1963, in Louisville to Delbert and Sheryl Masterson, John spent his life rooted in the place he called home.
John was a loving father, son, brother, and proud grandpa whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Known for his laid-back nature and kind heart, John always meant well and had a quiet strength that endeared him to everyone who knew him.
A bit of a homebody at heart, John also had a deep love for the outdoors. He found peace in camping, fishing, boating, and skiing—always happiest when surrounded by nature. When at home, you could often find him watching old westerns, Elvis movies, or cheering on his beloved UK Wildcats and Washington Redskins. Music was a constant companion in his life, especially classic country and rock, which brought him both joy and comfort.
John’s presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of calm to those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and fondly remembered for the love he gave so freely, his good-natured spirit, and the many memories he leaves behind.
He will be missed more than words can say.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Brenda Campbell, and Delbert and Lucille Masterson; 3 uncles, Michael Eugene Campbell, Robert Alan Masterson, and James Caple; cousin, Carey Caple; and a niece, Megan Masterson.
Left to cherish his memory, John is survived by 2 daughters, Brandy and Jessica; parents, Delbert Masterson Jr. and Sheryl Campbell Masterson; 2 brothers, Delbert Harold Masterson III (Sheila) and Corey Wayne Masterson (Rene); 3 grandchildren, Savannah, Jaiden’ Avery, and Julian; great-grandson, Castill; nephew, Paul Young; 2 nieces, Heather Masterson and Krista Masterson; 8 great-nieces/nephews, Josh, Noah, Zach, Kashton, Beckam, Decklan, Cameron, and Bode; 3 cousins, Paul Masterson, Bobby Masterson, and Shannon; aunt, Cynthia Lee Dorton; and special close friends, Teresa and Marshall Rutledge.
