Robert William Howard

Robert "Bob" William Howard, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 11th at Norton Women and Children's Hospital.

Bob was an alumnus of Flaget High School, class of 1965, an Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War, a former member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and a proud retired worker of almost 30 years at GE.

Bob led a rich life and loved sharing stories of his adventures. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved hosting parties, especially the fourth of July, where he served many years as the "Fireworks Director".

Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Carolyn Howard; brothers, John and Joseph Howard; and a sister, Sandra Howard.

Left to cherish Bob's memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Gottbrath Howard; daughter, Jennifer Huff (Brian); son, Joshua Howard (Kendall); grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas and Lucas Huff; sisters, Marilyn McKeand, and Teresa Similey; brother, Michael Howard (Mary); and his beloved dog, Laney.

A celebration of life Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 16th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6105 S. 3rd Street with cremation to follow. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 15th at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Drive. A vigil prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday.
