John W. Mathews, 73 of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 09, 2025.
He was born on January 02,1952 in Beech Grove, Indiana to William T. and Mary E. (Porter)Mathews. John is survived by his wife Jo Mathews and five children: Laura Mathews, Michelle Hogan, Mike (Dawn) Hogan, Kara Ernstes, and James (Mandy) Hogan. He is also survived by two sisters: Darlene (William) Holcomb and Phyllis (Robert) Tuttle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Kurtly Ernstes. He also leaves behind, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.
John was a graduate of Arlington High School. John was a Navy veteran. He retired after 22 years at Dow Chemicals in Texas. He also recently retired from Iron Mountain in Indianapolis, Indiana, after 22 years.
John enjoyed family fun, bowling, golf, horseshoes, and playing cornhole.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025,from 3pm-7pm at the American Legion, 334 US Highway 31 South, Greenwood, Indiana, 46142.
John will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery at a later date.
