John Mayhood Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center on Jan. 31, 2022.
John Lyndl Mayhood, 75, of Hot Springs, formerly of Jessieville, gained his heavenly wings on January 29, 2022, after a 2-year courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1946 in Effingham, Illinois to Harold and Melba (Evans) Mayhood.
John is predeceased by his parents and brother Mike Mayhood.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Grose) Mayhood; sons John C. of Bismarck, and Joshua (wife Natasha) of Bonnerdale; granddaughter Taylor Rosales (Husband Adam) of Malvern, Chloe, Sophie, Marlee, Eevie and grandson Zander of Bonnerdale; sister Sharon Mayhood of Mattoon, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law David and Linda Grose of Charleston, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
John was a quiet, gentle, and strong man that loved with all his heart. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you were a friend for life. John and his brother were in the home construction business for several years. He retired from Hot Springs Village POA after 35 years as the superintendent of Vehicle and Building Maintenance.
John proudly served in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971 as a Titan Two missile facilities technician. He was introduced to the beautiful state of Arkansas at his last station, Little Rock Air Force Base. He and Linda relocated back to Arkansas in 1978 from their home state of Illinois. John's passion was his family. He and Linda owned a houseboat and spend every summer and every other chance they got with the family on Lake Ouachita for 25 years. Family beach vacations, cruises and traveling were another joy. He loved road trips in his red convertible sports car he received on his 70th birthday. He played senior softball for many years. Most of all, he loved spending every day with the love of his life.
A visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center at 2529 Airport Rd. The family asks that everyone please wear a mask. A graveside service will be begin Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Bratton officiating. Military honors will be presented.
Pallbearers will be Doug Harper, Sammy Robertson, Adam Rosales, Jeff Frachiseur, John Mayhood, Josh Mayhood, and Zander Mayhood. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Steven Divers, and the staffs of Genesis Cancer Center and Arkansas Hospice.
Memorial donations may be made to the Genesis Cancer Center.
